Born and raised in Burnaby, B.C., Ryan has always been committed to his community and giving back. Ryan’s philanthropic contributions, in both a professional and personal capacity, have had a profound impact and changed the lives of many. As President of Beedie, Ryan oversees one of the most successful industrial and residential property development companies in Western Canada. Ryan’s values and approach around giving are reflected in his company, whose philosophy “Built for Good” speaks not only to the company’s dedication to quality and customer service, but also to its goals of helping others and working for and within the community. In addition to supporting Zajac Ranch for Children, Ryan chairs the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation Capital Campaign and sits on the Canadian board of the ONE Campaign.

Ryan and his wife Cindy, who is also heavily involved in philanthropic work, contribute to several other organizations including BC Children’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, the YWCA, and the Vancouver Police Foundation. Ryan has also made significant contributions to support post-secondary education. In 2011, Ryan and his father, Keith, donated $22 million to create Beedie School of Business at SFU. In 2018, on Ryan’s 50th birthday he launched Beedie Luminaries. Personally committing over $50 million, Ryan created a social-profit enterprise that offers scholarships for higher education to promising students from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds. We thank Ryan for his support for the Zajac Ranch for Children and for his continuing generosity in the broader community.
